Web Wisconsin believes you have a right to a website that is . . .

  • Built around your business goals & objectives
  • Visually attractive & professional
  • Reasonably priced
  • Easy to navigate
  • Highly flexible
  • Expandable
  • Easily maintained
  • Consistent with search engine best practices

We believe a Content Management System (CMS) best fits these objectives and have chosen Joomla! and WordPress as our preferred CMS platforms.

What is a content management system (CMS) . . .

Content management systems (CMS) became very popular with the advent of online newspapers and blogs.  The newspapers and bloggers needed to have regular people add content to a website without involving technical people in every change.

A content management system stores the website content (text, photos, etc.) in a database rather than on the website page.  Once the content is organized and under the control of the CMS, new information can be added, modified or deleted.  CMS sites can be only a few pages or up to hundreds of pages.

Studies suggest that more than 30% of today's websites use a CMS platform.  Currently, the most widely-used are:

  • Word Press
  • Joomla!
  • Drupal

Most of the websites showcased here were developed in Joomla!

What is Joomla . . . .

Joomla! is the 2nd most popular content management system (CMS).  While not as popular among bloggers as WordPress, we believe its advanced functions make it a better solution for small businesses and organizations.

With minimal training and documentation, a business can easily maintain the content on their website without any special tools other than a computer and an Internet connection.

Joomla! is expandable, allowing functions to be added later as the needs of the business change.  It is used for:

  • Corporate Websites
  • Online magazines, newspapers, and publications
  • E-commerce websites
  • Small business Websites
  • Non-profit and organizational Websites
  • School and church Websites
